Researching the topic of birthday celebrations (Islam and Shafi'i):






I like this - my thinking - some days, some random days, especially weekend days I have it pretty good. I go to the movies maybe, I eat out. I go do something fun or enjoyable etc. Is normal for everyone I know of anyway to have a day or more to take it easy. Rest and relaxation. Every day is good when your a Muslim yes, every day is blessed. I feel like as long as you don't sin as long as you don't exceed the limits as long as you keep your duties to Allah, to your job, your wife, family, etc. whatever it is you need to do, is okay to "celebrate" modestly, especially with family and friends...there is more blessings with harder days or doing righteous good deeds of course...I think it's really interesting how in eastern societies or civilizations that often the person celebrating is the one giving gifts to everyone else (that is actually more Islamic I would say as well of course because giving is better than receiving in Islam). It doesn't really matter what I think though - Action is best:
